The presence of mice in the house is a terrible thing. These small animals destroy things and carry bacteria and viruses. If you don’t get rid of the rats in your house, they will get rid of you. Read on to find out the smartest ways to get rid of these pests from your home.
It’s the time of year when mice try to get into the house. They come looking for shelter and food. If you’re like me, rats and mice are the last thing I want in my house. That’s why I’m here to share with you the smartest ways to get rid of mice and rats from your home.
Effective ways to eliminate mice and rats from your home
SODIUM BICARBONATE
Put baking soda in all the places where you noticed streaks or excrement. Be very careful to keep it in a place where your pets can’t get it, because it’s not good for them. A good tip is to put it in a box or container with a hole large enough for rats and mice to get in.
PERFUME FOR PREDATORS
Some pet stores sell urine, predator faeces or possibly pellets that have the same smell. It is sufficient to place one of these items in an area outside the house where the mice have been noticed entering.
Traps
The clever use of traps can be extremely useful. Place a snap trap near the wall where you think they will enter. This way it will be almost impossible to avoid the pressure trap. Place several traps in an area where you have seen rats or their remains. The mice do not tend to move too far from the entry point.
The use of the right bait is crucial for the proper functioning of traps. Things like cheese, peanut butter, chocolate and dried fruit will interest them. You can also use cotton feathers and cotton balls, because they are objects that they commonly use for their nests.
PEPPERMINT OIL
A few drops on a cotton ball near the point where they enter. Both mice and rats hate the smell of peppermint oil. Be sure to replace it every few days when the smell fades. Peppermint oil is not good for pets, so make sure it’s out of their reach.
Another way to use peppermint is to plant peppermint plants near the entrances to keep them away.
MICE FOR CATS
If you see areas where mice can nest outdoors, place used cat litter near the entrance. The smell of the litter itself is strong and can drive them away, but since it is used, they will also smell urine indicating that there are cats nearby.
PATCHING THE HOLES
Permanently sealing the holes prevents new parasites from entering. You can fill the holes with plaster or concrete. Using less permanent options like steel wool, copper netting and caulking can also help, but the best thing is to make them permanent, because they can eventually corrode others.
GROUND CLOVES
Ground cloves have a rather strong smell that repels mice and rats. You can sprinkle it around the nest entrance or put a mesh bag near the hole. Again, you will have to replace it every few days as the smell disappears.
DRYER LEAVES
Putting baking paper sheets in areas where mice and rats have been spotted will keep them away. Even better? You can wrap cloves to double strong smells.
HAVE A CAT
Adopting a cat is a good way to control parasites that may be in the house. Mice naturally prey on rats and mice, but usually leave them as gifts somewhere in the house. A cat will not only help reduce the number of pests in your home, but its smell will naturally deter others from entering.
There are many other ways to keep mice and rats out of your home, but these are the most common natural methods of getting rid of them.
How to remove a dead mouse
When disposing of a dead rodent, you should use gloves on your hands. Put the rodent in a sealable bag and close it tightly. Then put this bag in another resealable and close it tightly. Take these two bags and put them in the trash outside your home.
