How to clean radiators without creating dust throughout the house

Radiators are an indispensable part of our homes, as they keep us warm and greatly improve our quality of life since their invention.

However, they are “static” elements that tend to accumulate a lot of dust, which can compromise its efficiency and be a problem if we suffer from allergies or other respiratory problems.

Radiator cleaning is very important before and during the cold months. Below we suggest how to do it.

To clean the outside of aluminium radiators, simply wipe them with a microfibre cloth. Once the dust has been removed, moisten the cloth with hot water, a little vinegar and a few drops of soap and pass it again on the surface. This last procedure removes dust mites and dirt.

Cleaning the inside of the dispenser is a bit more complex.
The first step is to remove the dust build-up between the radiator fins. For this purpose, it is recommended to use a vacuum cleaner with a fine nozzle that fits between the slots of the radiator. Insert the nozzle on one side and try to close the other end to create a “suction effect”.

If this method does not work, you can try to insert a rather long tool between the slots, to which you will have to attach a microfiber cloth.

In a bucket, mix hot water with white vinegar, baking soda and some soap. Moisten a cloth and rub it into the slots of the refrigerator, if possible. Finally, remove any residue and dirt with a dry cloth.
