How to drain the holes in your shower head and increase water pressure

You will surely have noticed that the water pressure coming out of the shower head is always lower, perhaps attributing the phenomenon to a problem affecting the whole house or the apartment building.

In fact, most of the time this problem is caused by the accumulation of lime between the holes of the shower head. Some of these holes even end up completely clogging, preventing water from leaking out.

Fortunately, it is possible to solve this problem with do-it-yourself tricks that in addition to cleaning the surface of the shower head, allow us to unplug holes and return to have an optimal water pressure.

To clean a fixed shower head:

Fill a plastic bag with vinegar in half.
Insert the shower head into the plastic bag and secure it with a showering strap.
Let the shower head soak overnight.
The next morning remove the bag and rub the shower head with a toothbrush.
Finally, turn on the tap and run the water for a few minutes.
Vinegar is one of the most effective ingredients to remove mineral residues that are the main cause of the blockage of the holes in the shower head.

To clean a removable shower head:

Remove it from its place and put it under running water, but on the contrary (the holes must be in front of the water).
Rinse to remove any surface deposits of limestone and dirt.
Soak the shower head in a container full of vinegar overnight.
The next day, scrub with a toothbrush and then rinse as in step 1.
Now that you know how to unlock the holes in your shower head, try this method right away to get back to a satisfactory water pressure.
