Since we pour the detergent into the washing machine tray or add the softener, it can become a habitat for mold and germs. Today I’ll tell you how to clean three compartments using only two products that are found in every kitchen.
Why is it important to clean the litter?
If we do not clean it too long, the dust and softener residues start to mold. For this reason the washing machine emits a musty smell, with the unpleasant weather, even freshly washed clothes start to “stink”.
Cleaning with a damp cloth is of little use, as the characteristic fungal coating quickly returns. Fortunately, there is a simple trick that can help solve the problem.
How to clean tray compartments
To effectively clean the powder and liquid detergent compartments, 2 products must be taken. You can easily find lemon and vinegar in the kitchen.
Squeeze the juice of 2 lemons. Then add 1/2 glass of vinegar and 200 ml of water.
To perform the antifungal treatment, you must have a brush and rag on hand.
Step by step process:
- Remove the tray from the washing machine and place it in the sink or in a wide basin.
- Pour the prepared product into all three compartments. Pay particular attention to the liquid compartment.
- Leave on for 10 minutes. Then thoroughly clean all the elements with a brush and rinse with water.
Repeat the procedure every 2 months.
Mould treatment will only be effective if, in addition to the tray itself, the pipes are cleaned. They also get dirty easily, especially in contact with hard water. They form a black coating of flakes and mould. To remove it, spray the nozzles with the same product you used to clean the compartments. Then scrub them thoroughly with a brush. Remove any residue with a damp cloth.
