Recipe for potato soup with bacon

1 large yellow onion, diced

2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
32 oz of chicken broth
3 pounds of russet potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup of sour cream
2 cups freshly minced cheddar cheese
1.5 cups of half and half
1/2 teaspoon salt (add more if necessary)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon of powdered onion
1/4 teaspoon of powdered Cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon of broken pepper
