The hidden lever on the oven door to facilitate cleaning: here is what it does

When it comes to cleaning our kitchens, cleaning the oven is undoubtedly one of the most difficult tasks. The oven accumulates food and oil residues which, due to high temperatures and infrequent cleaning, harden and become very difficult to remove.

We’ve talked about how to clean and degrease the oven without using chemicals, but in this article we would like to suggest a little secret that will help you speed up the cleaning process and get better results.

The door of most ovens is equipped with a lever that allows to remove the glass from the door for easy cleaning.

This lever, which looks like a small hook, is located on either side of the oven door, very close to the oven door hinges, which allow it to open and close.

To remove the oven glass, simply open the oven door completely, locate the levers and fold them with your fingers or a tool such as a screwdriver.

It is important to be very careful during this operation, both to avoid injury and to protect the oven’s opening and closing functions. If in doubt, it is best to research your oven model before doing so.

Once the oven is disassembled, simply wipe it with a cloth soaked in a solution of vinegar and baking soda to remove any halos and food residue that have accumulated during use of the oven.

Warning: the glass of the oven door is soaked and therefore very heavy and fragile. Take the necessary precautions.
